This is yours truly, decades ago. My mom waited until I was a year old before I got my first haircut...
I have NEVER been blond since!
Desktop Solutions started out as Duarte Company Typesetting in Lewiston Maine about 1973. We started out as a commercial typesetting shop and then began specializing in BOOK typesetting.  We were at the forefront of computer typesetting "in those days" using CompuGraphic, AM Varityper & LinoType typesetting machines. We employed about 8 people and they all were learning semi-technical jobs.

Eventually our company typeset over 200 various kinds of book, novels, textbooks, university textbooks, etc.  In 2005 after discussing "important" issues facing the world with my brother-in-law , about 30 years in electrical engineering at the University of Nevada Reno, I decided to setup a 501 (c)(3) non-profit foundation, "Nuclear Advocacy Through Grassroots Education" about nuclear clean energy. The beat goes ON! Today our focus is on Sales & Marketing tabloid newsletters, non-profits, etc, operations & development of small business print assistance.

Our trek began in the typesetting business in the early 70s. After setting type for print shops for a couple years we moved our interests into the book typesetting business and later into the desktop revolution. We actually began messing with telecommunications typesetting in about 1975. We logged on to SOURCE TELECOMPUTING and were retrieving NEWS articles around the world which were printed in the Bates College Student Newspaper in Lewiston, Maine

In addition to personal business interests, I spent about 4 years as a part-time instructor in the Graphic Communications Department at Truckee Meadows Community College. Over the past few years they developed a good program for the graphics communications field, with instruction in printing and graphics history & today's typesetting programs, PageMaker, Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop, prepress technologies, etc.
